The classification criteria in korea focus on the capabilities of ADL and the degree of dementia is considered a little. The care benefits are also focused on severe care grade and supplied mainly physical care services. In Germany the classification criteria are more extensive. They involve not only the physical function problems but also cognitive and psychiatric disorder and behavioral troubles. Wenn they recognize the help-needers by the Screening and Assessment in care grade test, the additional care benefits supply for dementia patients, even though they do not have care grade (grade 0). The extension of the care classification criteria and the benefits in Long term Care Insurance in Germany reduce the numbers of dementia patients and the burden of care families. In Korea it is necessary to review the care criteria and to introduce the preventive benefits for dementia patients.
